After all, they’re called Domestic Ferrets!

Once again… this week we checked in on a Public Records Act request we filed with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife regarding Petition 2025-003 and any environmental review connected to it.

“The Department is initiating a search for records.”

In other words… Joe Ferret is still waiting. Stay tuned — we will share anything we find.

We are coming up on one full year since the Fish and Game Commission voted to refer our petition for further action — and it is still in limbo. We strongly suspect the Department of Fish and Wildlife has not even begun meaningful research on the domestic status of ferrets.

Bottom line: If there is no meaningful movement by the Commission’s April meeting, we will be prepared to pursue legal remedies to ensure Petition 2025-003 receives the review and action required under California law.
