About legalizeferrets.org
& our Mission to Help Ferret Owners & Ferrets in CA

This website was created by Ferrets Anonymous. Our mission is to help ferrets and ferret owners in California by legalizing ferret ownership.  The goal of this site is to bring together those who appreciate our mission.  We know the legalization effort can succeed with a bit of ferret-like optimism, enthusiasm, and teamwork.

We are reaching out to all the Californians affected by the ban and also ferret lovers worldwide, asking everyone to stand up for the rights of these owners of domesticated pets.
Over the past 15 years California ferret proponents have been in front of the Fish and Game Commission, in the courts and in the legislature. Currently we are working on an Environmental Impact Report to demonstrate that our lovable friends are happy, healthy pets and pose no larger threats to the environment.

Why should you get involved and how hard should you work? If you have ever driven out of state to buy a pet, avoided a checkpoint, kept your furry friends hidden from neighbors or your landlord, or avoided telling a friend or co-worker that you have pets, then the ferret ban has touched your life in a very personal way. Think about how much effort you have expended to keep your ferrets safe from the government. Imagine how much energy you will continue to waste if the ferret ban is allowed to remain in place. We ask that you put at least that much energy into getting rid of this unfair, discriminatory law.

For those who own ferrets in other states or parts of the world, we ask you to join us in our quest to make them legal here as well.
